Dear Valued Customers – Welcome Back


Thank you for all your support and to those of you that came to see us this weekend. We especially would like to thank those of you that were understanding and happy to help our team whilst we served you, we look forward to welcoming you back.
We have had to make some changes to our usual trading practices to comply with Government guidelines so bare with us as we adjust.

Take Away (Including Afternoon Tea) 

Great news we will be continuing our takeaway service, this will run along side our restaurant serving hours please place your order in advance and reserve a collection time slot. It is always advised to order at least half an hour before collection and 24 hours for afternoon tea.

Further Information 

Our food offering has been reduced initially but we hope to be back to our full offering as soon as possible.
All functions and garden room hire are also suspended until we receive new guidance on social distancing.
As you can see our opening hours have changed too, we hope to return to our usual hours as soon as we can.

We hope you and your families have stayed safe and well during lock down.

The whole team at The Blue Anchor is delighted to now be able to welcome you back, and please accept our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us during closure with their patience and takeaway orders.

The restaurant had a fresh lick of paint for a lighter, brighter feel and you will notice a few other changes too.  As you would expect, we have carried out a deep clean and our tables have been arranged to enable social distancing.  Enhanced cleaning protocols have been introduced, as well as staff temperature checks and PPE where appropriate.  Service will necessarily be a bit different to keep everyone safe, but above all the warm Blue Anchor welcome remains!

For all those of you who have deposits held over for the restaurant, an event, the hotel or a voucher of any description, we are extending these until 4th July 2021.  Please feel free to visit and enjoy a meal, collect a takeaway, or a stay with us using your deposit at any time during the coming 12 months.  We are sorry but we cannot issue refunds for any pre-payments at this moment in time whilst our efforts are focused on restarting the business with a reduced team in this new climate and ask for your understanding whilst we work to rebuild.

For now, we are excited to be reopening the doors and hope to see you soon.

Dear valued Guest

Whilst the COVID-19 situation continues to develop at home and round the world, we wanted to take the time to reassure you that the safety and well-being of our guests, team members and wider communities surrounding our restaurant is our number one priority.

Our, restaurant and hotel remain closed and will do so until the Government indicate it is the right time to re-open to the public.
At the moment we cannot say with any degree of certainty as to when this will be.

We appreciate this is a difficult time for everyone, but please rest assured we will do all we can to look after guests and our team alike.

If you have a reservation with us for which a voucher has been purchased or a deposit has been paid, and it has not been possible to visit during closure, we will extend the validity period if required.

Please note our phone lines are closed and we would ask that you email us your details so that we are able to deal with this upon our return:

Deposit for restaurant/event/hotel*:      name, reservation date & time

Function hire charge:                                      name and booking date

Gift voucher online/direct:                           name, voucher code and expiry date

Groupon voucher:                                           name, security code and expiry date


*Direct bookings only.  If you have reserved your hotel room via an online travel agency (, Expedia, etc) please log in to the appropriate account for further information and to cancel your reservation during the closure period.  Please note we are not authorised to cancel such bookings on behalf of guests.
